Better Late Than Never: A Look Back at Our March Madness Real Estate Party

Why are real estate networking events like March Madness parties so valuable for agents, lenders, title professionals, and the broader Denver real estate community?
Better Late Than Never, Right?
A couple months late, but I still wanted to throw it back to our March Madness party because this was such a fun one.
Sometimes content gets posted right away.
Sometimes the recap video sits in the folder for a little longer than planned.
And sometimes, you look back at the footage and think, “Actually, this is still worth sharing.”
That was definitely the case with this event.
Our March Madness party was one of those simple, fun, easygoing real estate community events that reminded me why I love getting people together. A little basketball, a little networking, a few drinks, and a lot of great people in one room.
That is really what it was all about.
Not a formal class.
Not a heavy presentation.
Not a sales pitch.
Just an opportunity to bring the Denver real estate community together outside of the normal workday and give people a chance to connect in a more relaxed environment.
And honestly, we need more of that.
Real Estate Is Still a Relationship Business
I talk a lot about AI, social media, video marketing, Google Business Profiles, Meta ads, farming, content creation, and all the different tools real estate professionals can use to grow their businesses.
All of that matters.
But at the end of the day, real estate is still a relationship business.
People want to work with people they know, like, trust, and actually enjoy being around.
That is true for buyers and sellers.
It is true for agents and lenders.
It is true for title reps, escrow teams, inspectors, photographers, movers, insurance partners, and everyone else who plays a role in helping clients move through a real estate transaction.
Technology can help you stay visible.
Marketing can help you get attention.
Content can help you build authority.
But relationships are still what keep this business moving.
That is why events like this matter.
A casual March Madness party may seem simple on the surface, but when you get the right people in the room, conversations happen. Connections happen. Follow-up meetings happen. New ideas happen. Referrals can happen. Collaboration can happen.
Sometimes the most valuable conversations are not scheduled on a calendar.
They happen while watching a game, grabbing a drink, or catching up with someone you have not seen in a while.
Why I Love Hosting Real Estate Community Events
One of my favorite parts of what I get to do with Chicago Title is creating opportunities for real estate professionals to get together.
Some of those opportunities are educational.
Some are more hands-on.
Some are focused on marketing, AI, title insurance, social media, or business growth.
And some are simply about bringing good people together.
The March Madness party fell into that last category.
It was not meant to be complicated.
It was meant to be fun.
Real estate can be stressful. Agents are constantly managing clients, contracts, showings, inspections, appraisal issues, deadlines, negotiations, marketing, follow-up, and everything else that comes with the business.
So every once in a while, it is nice to step out of the usual routine and just connect with people in the industry.
That is the goal with events like this.
Yes, I want to be a resource.
Yes, I want to help agents grow their businesses.
Yes, I want people to think of Chicago Title when they need a strong title and escrow partner.
But I also believe community matters.
If I can create a space where agents, lenders, and industry professionals can meet new people, strengthen relationships, and have a genuinely good time, that feels like a win.
A Different Kind of Networking
Not every networking event needs to feel like networking.
In fact, sometimes the best networking does not feel forced at all.
That is one of the reasons I like casual events like a March Madness watch party.
There is already a shared experience happening in the room. People are watching the games, reacting to the brackets, talking about teams, grabbing food, catching up, and naturally meeting the people around them.
That makes it easier for conversations to start.
You do not have to walk into the room and immediately give your elevator pitch.
You do not have to feel like you are “working the room.”
You can just show up, be yourself, and connect with people in a more natural way.
For real estate agents, that is a big deal.
Your business grows when people remember you.
Your business grows when people enjoy being around you.
Your business grows when you consistently show up in the rooms where relationships are being built.
That does not mean every event needs to turn into an immediate lead or referral.
That is not the point.
The point is to keep building trust, familiarity, and connection over time.
That is how long-term business is built.
The Value of Showing Up
I have said this before, but I really believe it.
A lot of success in real estate comes down to showing up consistently.
Showing up to events.
Showing up online.
Showing up for your clients.
Showing up for your referral partners.
Showing up even when the market is weird.
Showing up when things are busy.
Showing up when things are slow.
The agents and real estate professionals who stay visible tend to create more opportunities for themselves.
That does not always mean doing something big.
Sometimes it means posting a helpful video.
Sometimes it means sending a simple follow-up email.
Sometimes it means attending a community event.
Sometimes it means inviting someone to coffee.
Sometimes it means going to a March Madness party and having a real conversation with someone you may end up working with later.
It all adds up.
Real estate is not built on one giant moment.
It is built on hundreds of small touchpoints over time.
Community Creates Opportunity
One of the biggest benefits of real estate events is that they help bring different parts of the industry together.
Agents get to connect with other agents.
Lenders get to connect with agents.
Title professionals get to connect with both.
Vendors and service providers get to build relationships.
Newer agents get to meet more experienced agents.
Experienced agents get to reconnect with people they may not see often.
That kind of community creates opportunity.
And I do not mean that in a cheesy way.
I mean it practically.
When you know more people, you have more resources.
When you have more resources, you can better serve your clients.
When you are better connected, you can make better introductions.
When you are top of mind, people are more likely to think of you when something comes up.
That is one of the reasons I continue to host classes, panels, workshops, networking events, and community gatherings.
I want to help real estate professionals grow their businesses, but I also want to help build stronger connections inside the Colorado real estate community.
Because when the community is stronger, everyone benefits.
Thank You to Everyone Who Came Out
To everyone who came out to the March Madness party, thank you.
I know everyone is busy.
I know schedules are packed.
I know there are a million things competing for attention.
So when people take time out of their day to show up, hang out, and support an event, I really do appreciate it.
Events only work when people show up and bring the energy.
And this one had plenty of energy.
It was great seeing agents, lenders, partners, friends, and familiar faces all together in one place.
Whether you stopped by for a quick drink, stayed for the games, caught up with old friends, or met someone new, I appreciate you being there.
These events are only fun because of the people in the room.
Shoutout to Rocket Lister
I also want to give a big thank you to Rocket Lister for filming and editing the recap video.
They always do such a great job capturing the energy of these events.
There is something really valuable about having these moments documented.
A recap video lets people relive the event, but it also helps show what the real estate community looks like when people are actually connecting.
That matters.
Because sometimes it is hard to explain the energy of an event after the fact.
Video helps tell that story.
It shows the conversations.
The smiles.
The movement.
The atmosphere.
The people.
And for anyone who was not able to make it, it gives them a little taste of what they missed.
So thank you again to Rocket Lister for helping bring this event recap to life.
Why Event Recaps Matter for Real Estate Professionals
Since I talk a lot about marketing, I want to use this as a quick reminder for agents.
If you are hosting client events, community events, open houses, buyer seminars, seller workshops, neighborhood gatherings, charity events, or networking events, document them.
Take photos.
Record video.
Capture quick clips.
Get a few candid moments.
You do not need everything to be perfect.
You just need to show the experience.
Event recap content is some of the best brand-building content you can create because it shows proof that you are active, connected, and involved.
It tells your audience:
You are showing up.
You are building community.
You are creating value.
You are connected to people.
You are doing more than just posting listings.
For real estate agents, that is powerful.
People want to work with agents who are active in the market and connected to the community.
A simple recap video can communicate that quickly.
You can use that content for:
Instagram Reels
Facebook posts
LinkedIn posts
YouTube Shorts
Email newsletters
Blog posts
Website updates
Event promotion
Future sponsorship conversations
Community credibility
And the best part is that one event can turn into multiple pieces of content.
You can post the recap video.
You can write a short blog like this.
You can create a carousel with photos.
You can send a thank you email.
You can tag attendees and partners.
You can use the footage to promote the next event.
That is how you get more mileage out of what you are already doing.
Real Estate Marketing Is Not Always About Selling
One thing I always try to remind agents is that not every piece of marketing needs to say, “Hire me.”
Sometimes your marketing should simply show who you are, what you are involved in, and the kind of community you are building.
That is still marketing.
In many ways, it is better marketing.
People do not always want to be sold to.
But they do want to feel connected.
They do want to see what you are about.
They do want to know whether you are active, credible, helpful, and engaged.
Event content helps with that.
It lets people see a different side of your business.
For me, the March Madness party was not just about basketball.
It was about community.
It was about relationships.
It was about creating another touchpoint with the real estate professionals I get to work with and support.
And if you are a real estate agent thinking about your own marketing, there is a lesson there.
Your business is not just your listings.
It is not just your sales.
It is not just your market updates.
It is also your relationships, your community, your events, your personality, and your ability to bring people together.
Ideas Agents Can Take From This
If you are a real estate agent looking for ways to create more connection with your database, your farm, or your referral partners, here are a few ideas inspired by this type of event:
Host a client appreciation watch party.
Partner with a lender, title rep, or local business for a small community event.
Create a neighborhood happy hour for past clients and friends.
Host a March Madness bracket challenge with a simple gathering at the end.
Put together a summer patio meetup.
Host a coffee and market update event.
Invite your sphere to a casual local business meetup.
Create a small private event for your best referral partners.
Film a recap video and turn it into content afterward.
The event does not need to be massive.
It does not need to be expensive.
It does not need to be overly produced.
It just needs to be intentional.
Bring people together.
Make it easy to attend.
Create a good experience.
Follow up afterward.
Document the event.
Share the recap.
That is a simple formula that can work over and over again.
Already Looking Forward to the Next One
The March Madness party was a blast, and I am already looking forward to the next event.
Whether it is a class, panel, happy hour, workshop, charity event, or another casual networking opportunity, my goal is always the same.
Bring value.
Create connection.
Help real estate professionals grow.
Make it worth showing up.
That is what I want people to feel when they come to one of my events.
I want agents to leave with a new idea, a new connection, a new resource, or at the very least, a good experience.
Because this business can be hard.
But it is a lot better when you have good people around you.

Final Takeaway
Better late than never, right?
Even though this recap is a couple months late, I still wanted to share it because it represents something I care a lot about: bringing the real estate community together.
The Denver and Colorado real estate community is filled with hardworking, creative, driven professionals, and I always appreciate the chance to get people in the same room.
Thank you again to everyone who came out to the March Madness party.
Thank you to Rocket Lister for filming and editing the recap video.
And thank you to everyone who continues to support these events, classes, and community gatherings.
There is more coming, and I hope to see you at the next one.
