What makes a title company truly great?

A great title company is not just defined by its name, size, or reputation. It is defined by the people, the culture, the consistency, and the behind-the-scenes work that helps real estate professionals serve their clients at a high level every single day.

I had a great night at the Chicago Title Awards ceremony, and it reminded me how grateful I am for our sales team, escrow team, management, and everyone behind the scenes who helps make Chicago Title such a great place to be.

Gratitude matters in this business

Real estate is a relationship business.

That is true for agents. It is true for lenders. It is true for title reps. And it is definitely true inside a title company.

A lot of the time, people only see the front-facing side of the business. They see the marketing. They see the networking events. They see the classes, the meetings, the open houses, the social media posts, and the visible moments that get shared online.

What they do not always see is the amount of effort it takes behind the scenes to help transactions stay on track, solve problems, communicate clearly, handle pressure, and support clients and partners at a high level.

That is why nights like the Chicago Title Awards ceremony matter.

It is a chance to pause for a second and appreciate the people who are doing the work every day. It is a chance to recognize effort, consistency, and contribution. It is also a reminder that no one does this alone.

The sales team is only one part of the equation

As someone in sales, I understand how visible the sales side of the business can be.

We are out in the field. We are meeting with agents and lenders. We are teaching classes. We are answering calls. We are trying to create opportunities, build relationships, and help bring in business.

But the truth is this.

None of that means much if there is not an incredible team behind it.

A sales rep can make introductions and create opportunities, but it takes a full team to deliver on the promise. It takes escrow officers, assistants, management, operations, and support staff all working together to create the kind of experience that people want to come back to again and again.

That is one of the reasons I felt so grateful at the awards ceremony.

It was a reminder that while awards may be handed to individuals or teams, the real story is always bigger. The real story is about people showing up consistently, helping one another, and contributing to something bigger than themselves.

Escrow teams deserve more appreciation than they often get

If you work in real estate, you already know this.

The escrow team carries a huge amount of responsibility.

They are juggling communication, deadlines, details, documents, expectations, emotions, and moving pieces all at once. They are often handling time-sensitive issues while staying calm under pressure. They are helping make sure files move forward, clients are supported, and problems are addressed quickly and professionally.

When things go smoothly, it can be easy for people to underestimate how much work went into making that happen.

But smooth closings do not happen by accident.

They happen because skilled people are paying attention, communicating well, and doing their job at a high level.

That is one reason I have so much appreciation for our escrow team at Chicago Title. They are a huge part of what makes the company special. They help create trust. They help create consistency. And they help our clients and partners feel supported throughout the transaction.

Management sets the tone

One thing that often gets overlooked in business is how much leadership shapes culture.

Management is not just about overseeing operations or making decisions. Great management helps create the tone, the standards, and the environment that people work within every day.

When leadership is strong, clear, and supportive, it trickles down into everything else.

It affects communication.

It affects morale.

It affects how problems are handled.

It affects whether people feel empowered to do their best work.

It affects whether a company feels transactional or whether it actually feels like a place people are proud to be part of.

That is another reason I walked away from the Chicago Title Awards ceremony feeling grateful. Good leadership makes a difference. It creates stability, direction, and trust. And when you have strong leadership combined with strong teams, it becomes a lot easier to serve people well.

The people behind the scenes help make everything work

This is the part I really did not want to leave out.

There are so many people in a company who may never be the most visible, but they are still absolutely essential.

They keep systems running.

They solve internal issues.

They support teams.

They handle logistics.

They prepare what needs to be prepared.

They fix what needs to be fixed.

They step in where needed.

They make the visible work possible.

Every strong company has people like this, and they deserve a lot more credit than they often get.

At a title company, there is a lot happening in the background that most people will never fully see. But that hidden work is part of what creates a dependable experience for agents, lenders, buyers, sellers, and everyone else involved in the transaction.

That is why I wanted this post to be about more than just saying I had a great night.

I did have a great night.

But more importantly, I felt grateful for the people who help make Chicago Title what it is.

Recognition is meaningful, but the people are what matter most

Awards are great.

Recognition is meaningful.

Celebrating wins matters.

But when I think about what I appreciated most about the night, it was not really the formality of the event itself. It was the reminder of how many good people are part of this company.

People who work hard.

People who care.

People who support one another.

People who help make the day-to-day better.

People who create a culture that others want to be part of.

In any industry, that kind of culture matters.

In real estate, I think it matters even more.

This business can be fast-moving, stressful, emotional, and unpredictable. Having good people around you changes everything. It makes the hard days easier. It makes the wins more meaningful. It helps create confidence, trust, and momentum.

Why this matters to real estate agents and lenders

If you are a real estate agent or lender reading this, I think there is an important takeaway here.

The partners you choose matter.

A lot.

It is easy to look at a title company and assume the differences between one and another are minor. But when you are in the middle of a real transaction, those differences become a lot more obvious.

Communication matters.

Responsiveness matters.

Problem-solving matters.

Consistency matters.

Culture matters.

The people behind the brand matter.

A great partnership is not just about getting a deal closed. It is about working with people who care, who communicate well, who stay steady under pressure, and who genuinely want to help make your business better.

That is one of the reasons I am proud to be part of Chicago Title. It is not just the brand. It is the people within it.

Nights like this remind me why I do what I do

I say this often in different ways, but it is worth repeating here.

I work in title insurance, but a big part of how I approach my role is through relationships, education, and helping people grow.

I love helping real estate professionals with marketing ideas, tools, classes, events, strategy, and practical resources that can help them move their business forward.

But underneath all of that, I also love being part of a strong team.

Because when I go out into the market and represent Chicago Title, I know I am not doing that alone.

I know there are talented people behind the scenes.

I know there are people carrying the operational load.

I know there are teams making sure things are done well.

I know there is leadership helping create direction.

That gives me confidence. It gives me pride in who I represent. And it reminds me that the best business relationships are built on more than just services. They are built on trust and people.

Appreciation should be said out loud more often

One thing I have been thinking about after the awards ceremony is this.

A lot of people deserve appreciation long before there is an official event, a trophy, or a formal moment of recognition.

The best teams are often made up of people who quietly do excellent work over and over again.

They show up.

They handle what needs to be handled.

They help others.

They stay dependable.

They do not always ask for attention.

But they absolutely deserve appreciation.

That is part of why I wanted to write this.

Because it is good to say these things out loud.

It is good to acknowledge the people around us.

It is good to let people know their effort matters.

It is good to recognize that what makes a company great is not one person. It is the group.

A strong culture makes a real difference

Culture can sound like one of those vague business words that gets thrown around too casually.

But culture is real.

You feel it in how people communicate.

You feel it in how they handle pressure.

You feel it in whether people seem checked out or genuinely engaged.

You feel it in whether others are willing to help when something gets hard.

You feel it in whether people seem proud of where they work.

And in my opinion, a strong culture has a direct effect on performance.

When people feel valued, supported, and connected to the team around them, they tend to do better work. They care more. They communicate more. They take more pride in what they are doing.

That benefits everyone.

It benefits coworkers.

It benefits clients.

It benefits partners.

It benefits the overall experience.

That is another reason I left the Chicago Title Awards ceremony feeling grateful. It was not just a fun night. It was a reflection of the kind of team environment that makes the day-to-day meaningful.

Success in real estate is never a solo effort

This applies whether you are a title rep, an escrow officer, a real estate agent, a lender, or anyone else in the industry.

No one really succeeds alone.

Even when someone is the most visible person in the room, there are usually a lot of people helping support that success in ways others may never fully see.

That is worth remembering.

It is worth saying thank you more often.

It is worth giving credit more often.

It is worth acknowledging that real estate is one of the most team-dependent industries out there, even when it sometimes gets framed as an individual game.

The truth is, the best outcomes almost always come from strong people working together.

My takeaway from the night

My biggest takeaway from the Chicago Title Awards ceremony is simple.

I am grateful.

I am grateful for our sales team.

I am grateful for our escrow team.

I am grateful for management.

I am grateful for the people behind the scenes.

And I am grateful to be part of a company that has so many good people contributing to what makes it special.

It was a great night, yes.

But more than that, it was a good reminder of something important.

The people are what make the place.

Final takeaway

A title company is only as strong as the people inside it. Awards ceremonies are a great time to celebrate success, but they also remind us who deserves appreciation every day. I walked away feeling grateful for the sales team, escrow team, management, and everyone behind the scenes at Chicago Title who helps make it such a great place to be.
